About the Author
Tammy Wilson is an elementary school principal in Saint Cloud, MN. Working in a school with a high Somali population, she saw a need for her students to see themselves represented in literature. This compelled her to write a book to not only inspire children, but also educate adults.
Tammy has three adult children who live in Minnesota. She has a taste for adventure, spending time in nature, listening to live music, and traveling to new destinations.

This book is by far one of the best written to build an understanding of the refugee experience. Tammy shows great compassion in her writing and draws the reader in with an exceptionally written story.

Great for kids and adults

This does much to give a voice to our local Somali community. In some ways they are different, in most ways the same. Buy it for insight, or even simply to support an author who has undertaken an urgently relevant effort to promote understanding between cultures.
